- Donation will be used for children and young people in need
- OVB has been socially engaged for more than thirty years
Cologne, 2 December 2014 – The European financial services provider OVB based in Cologne is supporting the association “Laachende Hätze e.V.”, newly founded by the triumvirate of representatives of the Cologne Carnival, which is leading the revellers through the 2015 session under the motto “Social foolishness, motley network”, with a donation of €25,000. Michael Rentmeister, CEO of OVB Holding AG and Chairman of the OVB relief organisation “Menschen in Not e.V.”, handed the symbolic donation check to the designated Carnival Prince Holger I (Kirsch) at the announcement of the association’s foundation in the Carnival Museum on 2 December.
The “Laachende Hätze e.V.” association is dedicated to the support of young refugees. Helpful neighbours from their district help them to cope with everyday life, doing activities together to make sure they can be children again and come to terms with their experiences.
“The concept convinced us straight away,” said OVB CEO Michael Rentmeister. “People often face great challenges in their lives and have to cope with difficult situations. Supporting them at such times and giving them confidence for the future is very important to us,” explained Michael Rentmeister.
As a financial services provider that is at home in Europe and in Cologne, the company has already been socially active in Cologne for over 30 years. “We want to strengthen the social community, especially where we live and work. This is why we are particularly pleased to make a starting contribution to the success of “Laachende Hätze e.V.” with our €25,000 donation,” said OVB CEO Michael Rentmeister.

About the OVB relief organisation
For more than 30 years, the OVB relief organisation “Menschen in Not e.V.” has stood for the practice of solidarity and supports people who are in need through no fault of their own as well as charities that perform services for our community. When the relief organisation was founded in 1983, employees and managers of OVB in Germany began to become socially engaged. Over time, this practice, which started small and was initially limited to the Cologne region, developed into a steadily growing commitment: The OVB relief organisation has since donated around €4 million to charitable causes. This amount represents far more than 1,000 recipients of donations all over Germany and occasionally in other countries too. The donated amount also represents thousands of OVB employees, who finance the work of the OVB relief organisation with their commitment.
